ON EVENT – TWO WORLDS: PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE MEETS LIVELY PARTY ATMOSPHERE
For nearly a decade, we have documented all events for the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC). A prestigious joint project of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, University of Augsburg, TU Munich, and George Washington University, MIPLC regularly gathers international experts in intellectual property.
The 9th Alumni Conference in April 2024 perfectly embodied the blend of international professional exchange and personal connection. Our task was to authentically, dynamically, and visually document both worlds.

EVENT FLOW
Daytime program at Literaturhaus Munich:
Approximately 250 alumni from around the world gathered to discuss current topics in intellectual property and related fields. Informative lectures alternated with informal networking breaks, capturing intense conversations and authentic moments.
Evening event at Park Café:
The event transformed into a relaxed celebration at Park Café. Around 80 attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner and dancing, accompanied by a DJ. Our photographic style intentionally shifted from professional business photography to lively, emotional party shots, emphasizing movement, intimacy, and joy.
CHALLENGES & TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION

Stylistic shift from conference to party:
Harmoniously capturing the transition from a formal conference to an exuberant evening event while maintaining aesthetic coherence.

Varied lighting conditions:
Daytime relied on the natural classical ambiance, whereas the evening required flash photography to vividly capture atmosphere, motion, and emotion.

Visual storytelling across two atmospheres:
Images needed to authentically reflect the moods while telling a cohesive visual story of the entire day.

CONCLUSION
The 9th MIPLC Alumni Conference combined professionalism and personality, serious discussions and lively enjoyment into a unique overall experience. Our photographic documentation captured both worlds authentically, emotionally, and with high quality.
